You can add a battery to your Simarine PICO through either the screen or through the Simarine PICO app on your smartphone (recommended). The following guide will show how to add a battery through the use of the Simarine PICO screen only. If you are programming your Simarine PICO through your smartphone, you will still follow this guide but navigate via touchscreen instead of the arrow and circle buttons on the Simarine PICO.
STEP 1: Press the circle button to enter the settings menu and use the arrow keys to scroll down to "DEVICES"
STEP 2: Press the circle button to enter the "DEVICES" menu and use the arrow keys to scroll down to "BATTERIES"
STEP 3: Press the circle button to enter the "BATTERIES" menu and press the circle button again to select "Add new"
STEP 4: Name the battery accordingly (e.g. MAIN, AUXILIARY, HOUSE, etc.)
STEP 5: Select the battery type (e.g. AGM, Gel, LifePO4)
STEP 6: Enter the battery capacity. Check your battery specifications to see which C Rating your battery is measured at (it will most likely be a C20 rating). Additional C Rating values can be entered for more accuracy, but only one is necessary. Leave unknown ratings as "Not set".
STEP 7: Select the voltmeter connected to the battery. In most instances this will be SC303 U1 or SC503 U1.
STEP 8: Select the current sensor connected to the battery. This will most likely be an SC303 or SC503 shunt.
STEP 9: Select a temperature sensor if you have one installed. The SC303 and SC503 come with an NTC 10K sensor that can be plugged into JST Socket
STEP 10: Confirm and save the battery configuration with the back arrow. The newly added battery should now be visible on the Simarine PICO when you exit the settings menu. It may take several charge cycles before the battery's state of charge is accurate.
