The Simarine monitoring system is highly customisable and can be expanded with a variety of different modules to suit the needs of your grid setup. The following list provides a brief description of the various Simarine modules.
PICO Battery Monitor (Required)
The heart of the Simarine system is the PICO battery monitor. It features a high resolution colour display and serves as a connection hub for all other Simarine modules. It is equipped with a Wi-FI module that enables communication with smartphones through the Android and iPhone PICO App. All connected Simarine modules can be controlled through the PICO screen or through the smartphone applications. The PICO is available in a flush panel mount style or as stand alone style unit.
Shunts (Recommended)
Simarine offers two different high current shunts for use with the PICO, the SC303 (rated to 300A continuous current) and the SC503 (rated to 500A continuous current). It is recommended that you include one of these shunts in your system to measure the overall flow of current in and out of your battery. This will provide you with an overall state of charge for your system, which is important if you have a lithium battery that cannot rely on voltage to measure capacity.
The SC303 and SC503 also include two voltage inputs, two resistance inputs, and a temperature sensor. The extra voltage input allows you to monitor your start battery or additional auxiliary battery bank if you have one, while the resistance inputs allow you to install two tank senders to monitor for fuel, fresh water, or grey water tank levels.
Tank Module (Optional)
The ST107 is an excellent addition for users that want to monitor the levels of several different water tanks. The module includes four resistance inputs, which are perfect for Rod Style tank senders that utilise a float to measure the level of fuel or water tanks. The three voltage sensors also allow users to install pressure type tank senders, such as the ENERDRIVE | DOMETIC SI-TPS series. The ST107 also includes a an alarm signal relay that can be programmed to trigger on a variety of different conditions.
Quad Shunts (Optional)
Simarine also offers a range of different quad shunt modules that are perfect for users wanting as much data about their system as possible. Each of these units comes equipped with either four 25A shunts (SCQ25 and SCQ25T) or four 50A shunts (SCQ50) to monitor individual loads or charge sources. Individual monitoring allows users to quickly see the performance of specific items in their system, such as how much power a set of solar panels is generating or how much current a fridge is drawing. Each of the quad shunts also comes equipped with a programmable alarm signal relay and the ability to merge individual shunts together to accommodate higher currents. The SCQ25T also comes equipped with voltage and resistance inputs, allowing up to 7 tanks to be monitored from the same unit.
Inclinometer (Optional)
The SDI01 digital inclinometer allows users to measure pitch and roll, making it easy to see if your caravan is level without needing to get out of the vehicle to check.
