The ENERDRIVE | DOMETIC DC2DC must be mounted close to the auxiliary battery in a clean and dry environment.
The DC2DC is not IP rated and as a result should not be mounted in an area where it can be exposed to moisture or dust. Mounting your DC2DC in a wet or dusty area can lead to moisture ingress and the failure of internal components. Because the DC2DC cannot be mounted in a wet or dusty area, it should not be mounted in:
- the open tray of a ute or 4WD
- an under bonnet application
- the open deck or wet area of a marine application
The DC2DC should ideally be mounted vertically (with the terminals facing downwards). This provides the best thermal performance and drip protection. which is particularly important in marine applications. Your DC2DC should also be mounted as close to your auxiliary battery as possible. The longer the cables between your battery and equipment are, the wider in diameter they will need to be. For best performance, it is recommended that the cables between the DC2DC and the auxiliary battery start battery be a minimum of 16mm2 and be no more than 5 meters in length. For cable lengths further than 5 meters in length, please refer to our cable sizing guide.
More information on minimum cable lengths and widths can also be found here.
