Please note that there is an incredible amount of functionality packed into the ePRO+ and this guide will only cover the basics (which is sufficient for the majority of users). If you wish to access the unit's more advanced features, please consult your owner's manual.
There are two parts to programming your ePRO+ Battery Monitor. When it is first connected, your ePRO+ will prompt you to perform a brief initial setup. This stage covers battery chemistry and capacity, and will be sufficient for many users. After performing the initial setup, additional parameters can be entered in the Function Setup Menu.
Initial Setup
When you first power up your ePRO+, you will be prompted to enter some basic information to get you started. The first screen you encounter (see image below) will allow you to enter the type of battery you have. You can use the arrow keys to choose between AGM (default), Gel, Flooded, and Lithium LiFePO4, and press the menu button to confirm the type of battery you are using.
After selecting your battery type, you will be then be prompted to choose the capacity of your battery bank (see image below). The default setting is 200Ah, but this can be adjusted with the arrow keys. Press the menu button to confirm the capacity. This battery capacity value is based on a discharge rate of 20 hours (C20 rating). If your battery capacity is rated at a different discharge rate, this can be changed in the Function Setup Menu.
After this initial setup is completed, the ePRO+ will analyse your battery and estimate the nominal voltage and current state of charge. Make sure you are not charging your battery while this analysis is taking place, as it may cause the ePRO+ to mistake the charger voltage for the battery voltage. Once the analysis is complete, your ePRO+ will show your battery voltage and an estimated state charge. If you are using your ePRO+ with a lithium battery, then a full charge cycle will need to be completed before the ePRO+ can display the state of charge.
Function Setup Menu
After completing the initial setup, the Function Setup Menu can be used to enter additional parameters. The following sequence gives access to the function menu:
Once you have entered the function menu, you can choose between items using the arrow keys. To edit a setting, press the menu button and use the arrow keys to change the value. You can press the menu button to confirm the new value. To save changes and exit the function setup menu, press and hold the menu button for 3 seconds. If you press no buttons for 2 minutes, the ePRO+ will exit the function setup menu without saving changes you have made. The table below provides a brief explanation of the different settings:
