🚙Before Every Trip
• Inspect Connectors: Check all visible electrical connectors for looseness or signs of wear.
• Check Anderson Plugs: Ensure Anderson plugs are secure, clean, and not showing signs of heat damage (e.g. discolored plastic)
• Check Connections: Especially check any connections or joints where solder has been used.
• Secure Wiring and Cables: Ensure wiring harnesses are properly secured and supported to prevent movement. The slightest movement can cause chaffing.
• Check Battery Terminals: Tighten and clean battery connections.
⏰Every 3–6 Months
•Apply Dielectric Grease: Use on connectors to reduce corrosion and maintain contact integrity.
•Look for Corrosion: Inspect connectors for rust or oxidation, especially in coastal or humid areas.
•Test Electrical Systems: Verify lights, appliances, and charging systems are functioning correctly.
🗓️Annually
•Inspect Hidden Wiring and Connectors: Check behind panels and under chassis for loose or damaged connectors.
•Replace Worn Components: Replace connectors showing signs of fatigue, cracking, or heat damage.
•Upgrade to Vibration-Resistant Connectors: Consider quality automotive-grade or locking connectors for critical circuits.
🗻After Driving on Rough Terrain
•Recheck After Off-Roading: Inspect connectors after extended travel on corrugated or rough roads.
•Monitor for Intermittent Power: If lights or appliances flicker, investigate immediately.
