It is strongly recommended that B-TEC/eLITE batteries are kept charged to avoid activating the internal low battery voltage disconnect. Continuously tripping the low voltage disconnect may cause damage to sensitive equipment attached the battery (e.g. chargers, solar controllers, inverters) none of which are covered under the battery warranty.
In the event that your B-TEC/eLITE battery goes flat, there are four methods than can be used to perform a battery restart depending on the type of battery and equipment you have available:
Method 1 - Using the Battery Reset Button (B-TEC G2 only)
1. Turn off all DC and AC loads
2. Connect and switch on charging source(s) (e.g. solar, DC2DC, or AC chargers).
3. Hold the "Reset" button for 10-20 seconds then release
4. Power should be restored and charger(s) should now be charging the battery.
5. When state of charge is above 20%, loads can be switched on if required.
6. Open Enerdrive Battery App on your Smart Phone to confirm battery is charging
Method 2 - Using System Mounted Battery Reset Button (Enerdrive eSYS Systems only)
1. Turn off all DC and AC Loads
2. Connect and switch on charging source(s) (e.g. solar, DC2DC, or AC chargers).
3. Press and hold the green momentary reset switch found on the Enerdrive eSYS board for 10-20 seconds
4. Release the reset switch when chargers begin charging
5. When state of charge is above 20%, loads can be switched on if required.
6. Open Enerdrive Battery App on your Smart Phone to confirm battery is charging
Method 3 - Jump Start Battery with Portable Power Pack/Start Battery
1. Turn off all DC and AC Loads
2. Connect and switch on charging source(s)
3. Connect a charge voltage ≥12.8 to the battery for 10-20 seconds. This can be performed with a portable power pack or an external battery. In most setups with a DC2DC charger connected to a vehicle, this can be accomplished by connecting a jumper cable between the positive "Battery Input" terminal and the positive "Battery Output" terminal on a DC2DC while the vehicle is running.
4. Remove the power source/jumper cable when chargers begin charging
5. When state of charge is above 20%, loads can be switched on if required.
Method 4 - Charging with an ePOWER Charger in Power Supply Mode
The method for recharging a flat B-TEC using an ePOWER Charger in Power Supply Mode can be found here.
